Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026

VA Loan Shield™ ("the Tool," "we," "us") is a loan-analysis tool provided by a licensed mortgage loan originator affiliated with CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC (NMLS #3029). This policy explains what information the Tool itself collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers only the Tool; CrossCountry Mortgage's broader data practices are governed by CCM's own Privacy Statement.

1. How the Loan Estimate Analysis Works

When you upload or drag-and-drop a Loan Estimate to run an analysis, the PDF is read and analyzed entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. For the on-device analysis, the contents of your Loan Estimate are not uploaded to, stored on, or transmitted to any server. The analysis happens locally on your device, and the results are displayed only to you.

Important distinction: The on-device analysis is private. However, if you choose to submit your information or your Loan Estimate to us using one of the contact forms described below, that data is transmitted to us. See Section 2.

To help us understand how the Tool is used and to catch document-reading errors, the Tool sends our server a few anonymous usage events — for example, when an analysis completes — containing summary results (the score, number of flagged fees, standardized fee-category names, estimated savings, and loan type), technical diagnostics about how well the document was read, and the loan officer or partner link you arrived through. These events are not stored with your IP address and never include your name, your contact information, or your document itself.

2. Information You Choose to Submit

The Tool only transmits data to a server when you take an action to send it. This happens through the following optional forms:

Submitting any of these forms is entirely voluntary. You can use the on-device analysis without ever submitting your information.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Who We Share It With (Service Providers)

Information you submit is processed by service providers acting on our behalf:

These providers process information only to perform services on our behalf and are not permitted to sell it. We may update this list as our service providers change; this policy always reflects the current list.

If you proceed to a loan application with CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC, information you provide in that process is governed by CCM's own consumer privacy notices, including its website privacy policy and the federal (Gramm-Leach-Bliley) privacy notice provided with your application.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Tool uses a small amount of browser storage (localStorage) to remember display configuration between visits. Our analytics providers may set cookies or use similar technologies to distinguish visitors and measure how the Tool is used; these technologies do not read your Loan Estimate or its contents. You can limit or block cookies through your browser settings — the document analysis works without them.

6. Data Retention

We retain information you submit only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, to provide the services you request, and to satisfy the legal, regulatory, and recordkeeping obligations that apply to licensed mortgage professionals. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, it is deleted or de-identified.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information you have submitted by contacting us at the address below. Depending on your state of residence (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA, and residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have additional rights, including the right to know, correct, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

8. Security

Submissions are transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Tool is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.

11. Contact

To make a privacy request or ask a question about this policy, contact your loan originator directly through the contact options in the Tool, or write to: CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC, Legal Department, 2160 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114. For CrossCountry Mortgage's company-wide privacy choices, see CCM's Privacy Statement.
